Domin Chan, PhD, MHS - Treasurer
Domin Chan, PhD, MHS has served as Treasurer on the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus Executive Committee for the past two years. She is currently a post-doctoral fellow in geriatric mental health services research at the University of Washington and conducts research on health disparities in mental health and mental health treatment of older adults from ethnic minority groups including Asian Americans. She completed her PhD in Health Services Research at the University of Washington. Her dissertation research focused on evaluating depression care, utilization and costs of health services in Veterans with depression and posttraumatic stress disorder. She received her Master’s in Health Science in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health where she concentrated in health promotion and health communication. She received her B.S. in Physiology from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She would like to use community-based participatory methods to work with Asian American immigrant communities.
Dr. Chan has worked in health policy, health administration, and health education for a diverse range of organizations. As a Health Specialist at the World Bank, she edited a book on assessing and strengthening social protection systems for vulnerable populations in the Middle East and North Africa. As a Strategic Planning Executive, she facilitated and monitored an initiative to reduce costs and improve efficiency in three Singapore private hospitals. She has managed the outpatient Johns Hopkins women’s health clinic and has managed childhood asthma programs for inner city children at the American Lung Association of Washington, D.C. In addition, she has served on the Executive Board of the Washington State Public Health Association.
